Admissions

Shepton Mallet Community Infants’ School & Nursery is a school for boys and girls from 0 – 7 years of age and is maintained by Somerset County Council. We are a one and half form entry school with published admission number (PAN) of 47. Should this number be exceeded, we will follow the Local Authority (LA) set criteria for admission when offering places.

How to Apply

You and your children are welcome to visit our school so that you can look around and have plenty of opportunity to ask us any questions. These tours are normally conducted by our Head Teacher and can easily be arranged by telephoning the school office. We would be happy to arrange a follow-up visit if needed.

Come and see our school

You can apply for a place for your child at our school at any time and you will be informed if there is a place available in the relevant school year class. If your child is of pre-school age, and registered with a local GP, you will be contacted by the Local Authority Admissions Team a year before your child is due to start school. Children living in our catchment area are generally allocated a place at our school and many children who live outside the catchment area have also successfully applied. Children are given places strictly according to published admissions criteria.
