At Shepton Mallet Community Infants’ School & Nursery we believe that every child is entitled to enjoy his or her childhood. They should be valued for their individuality, culture and heritage and be encouraged to develop their full potential in a stimulating and caring environment.
We are a small school of just over 200 children including our Nursery, and are situated in the market town of Shepton Mallet on the edge of the Mendip hills. Our facilities and resources cater exclusively for children aged from 0 – 7.
We have 6 classes, Reception to Year 2. This year all our classes are named after different rainforest creatures. Our Nursery caters for children from birth to school age. It is open for 50 weeks a year, and our Nursery class for 3-5 yrs is open during termtime.
Our main building dates back to 1906 and houses classrooms for Reception to Year 2. It also contains our up to date ICT suite which has enough computers to teach a whole class. Our outdoor learning area is well resourced and stimulating.
We have a large colourful playground with a ‘timber trail’ and a range of play equipment for the children to use.
